THE DIAGNOSTIC FRAMEWORK

How Pattern Diagnosis Works

Understand the recognition-based process that identifies a recurring existential structure.

The structure of recognition-based diagnosis and interpretation.

ARCANUM is an independent Existential Pattern Diagnosis Framework. Its diagnosis begins with what a person recognizes in repeated experience; it does not use birth data, astrology, zodiac signs, planetary positions, prophecy, or divination to generate a result.

This page summarizes the mechanism. For the complete documented methodology — recognition statements, pattern taxonomy, scoring logic, differential and symbolic interpretation, stated limitations, and what ARCANUM does not claim — see the full Methodology document.

I

Historical and Intellectual Lineage

Hermetic philosophy and related historical traditions are part of ARCANUM's research lineage and symbolic vocabulary. They are historical and intellectual inspiration only, not the diagnostic mechanism and not inputs to Pattern Diagnosis.

Hermetic Philosophy

The Corpus Hermeticum and Emerald Tablet preserve the historical axiom: "As above, so below." ARCANUM studies this as intellectual history and metaphor. It is not used to calculate, score, or produce a diagnosis.

Greek Magical Papyri

These Greco-Egyptian ritual texts, dating from the 2nd century BCE to the 5th century CE, are retained in the archive as historical material. Their ritual and planetary language is not part of the current diagnostic mechanism.

Babylonian Astronomy

Cuneiform tablets from ancient Mesopotamia document early planetary observation. ARCANUM preserves this context as part of the history of pattern-making, not as a source of personal diagnosis. The archive's article on planetary hours and their significance is historical reference material.

Kabbalistic Cosmology

The Tree of Life is studied as a historical example of structured symbolic classification. It does not supply personal inputs or determine diagnostic outcomes.

Renaissance Astrology

Figures such as Marsilio Ficino, Pico della Mirandola, and Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa synthesized classical systems of correspondence. Their work belongs to the intellectual lineage, not to ARCANUM's recognition-based scoring process. The Hermetic Law of Correspondence remains part of that historical archive.

How Pattern Diagnosis Produces a Result

Each diagnosis passes through four practical stages. The mechanism uses recognition statements, a pattern taxonomy, scoring with differential logic, and structural interpretation.

I

Recognition Statements

The user selects statements that feel specifically accurate across recurring situations. These responses are the diagnosis input; no birth date or celestial data is requested or used.

II

Pattern Taxonomy

Each statement belongs to a defined pattern family. The taxonomy groups related signals into recurring structural forms without treating a single answer as decisive.

III

Scoring and Differential Logic

Responses accumulate scores across candidate patterns. Differential logic compares the leading structures, separates overlapping signals, and identifies the best-supported pattern rather than forcing every response into one category.

IV

Structural Interpretation

The final stage translates the strongest supported pattern into an account of its trigger sequence, recurring architecture, and interruption threshold. It is an interpretation of recognized structure, not a prediction or decree of fate.

III

What Pattern Diagnosis Reveals

Pattern Diagnosis does not tell fortunes. It organizes recognized evidence into a structural account of what repeats, how it differs from nearby patterns, and where interruption may become possible.

Pattern Family

The recurring structure most strongly supported by the selected recognition statements.

Signal Distribution

The response clusters, triggers, and recurring dynamics that contributed to the result.

Differential Distinction

The reasons the leading pattern fits better than adjacent or overlapping pattern families.

Structural Interpretation

A concise account of the pattern's architecture, trigger sequence, and possible interruption threshold.
